DIETARY GUIDELINES

The following requirements pertain to all participants of Casa Del Maestro’s plant medicine programs.

In general, we recommend eating clean, whole foods as your retreat approaches. The medicine tends to take participants deeper when the body is clean. This can lessen the amount of physical purging, which enables ayahuasca to more effectively get to the root of ailments, imbalances, and energetic suffering. Having a clean body also helps to connect with the more cosmic, mystical aspects of the medicine.

The dietary requirements include foods to avoid and for how long, as well as behavioral restrictions that adhere to traditional wisdom, safety considerations, and best practices. Keeping to these requirements is important not only for one’s safety, as ayahuasca can contraindicate with certain foods and medications, but also for efficacy.

3 DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR RETREAT

  • Refrain from sexual activity of any kind, including masturbation

AFTER YOUR RETREAT

Maintaining the requirements after an ayahuasca experience is essential for the changes to settle in without energetic disruption.

This process is as equally important as the ceremonies. A single retreat experience can take months—sometimes years—to integrate. The initial post-ayahuasca period sets the foundation for how the changes are going to manifest in one's life over time. Take this seriously, as it supports and enhances long-term benefit.

During our retreats, we will share in greater depth and detail why each of the restrictions are important and offer integration guidance on how to make the post-retreat process successful and meaningful. We will also cover the potential consequences for not adhering to the post-retreat requirements.

Generally, be mindful of how your body reacts to anything you consume after taking ayahuasca. The cleansing that occurs with the medicine can alter how you process foods you normally eat. Listen to your body. The post-retreat period is an optimum time to make dietary (and other) changes that represent a healthier lifestyle for you.

If you are planning to do the plant dieta, there are additional post-retreat requirements. Please see this page for more information.
